Spam

Ugh, I haven’t even had the site open 3 days and already I got a comment that consisted of spam!! 🙄 I freaking hate spammers. So I will have to search for some kind of plug in that will help monitor the spam. Any suggestions?

My mom and I volunteered for Theatre Calgary last night and so we had to dress the same. We wore a white dress shirt, black pants and a black jacket. Well, as you guys may or may not know…my mom and I are earring fanatics. We have earrings for every occasion and holiday known to man. LOL. Right now, because Easter is coming up, we are wearing our easter themed earrings. I probably have 25 different pairs of earrings just for Easter. Can you believe that my mom and I both showed up wearing the same earrings yesterday!!! I mean we don’t live at the same house and we didn’t organize it or anything. It just happened. So we were twins yesterday! 😳 It was so funny.

Oh and I discovered that RSS Feeds are so much easier to keep track of people’s blogs than what I was doing before! They are fantastic. 😉 If you want, you can even join mine!

I think Akismet is the most popular addon for managing spam comments, it might be installed by default? I’ve changed the options on comments so I have to approve comments before they show up on my site (except the ones who have been approved before, they show up straight away). At least then spam comments won’t show up on my site ^^ And what are the odds of showing up with the same earrings when you have so many?? I bet you looked cute 😀

Now that you have a feedburner feed you might want to get the FeedBurner FeedSmith plugin if you haven’t already.

Also make sure this coding is with your meta tags in your header.

Google Reader is absolutely an amazing way to keep up with all your favorite sites!

And yea I second the comment above: use Akismet. Also try bad behavior and a plugin that auto-closes comments after a specific period of time. Those are the only ways to really combat spam.
