Great Falls
Last week Peter and I took a trip down to Great Falls, Montana. It’s about a 5 hour drive from Calgary. The reason we went was for shopping. Peter had some vacation days that he needed to use up before the end of August (because they expire September 1st) so I thought why not take a trip instead of sitting at home doing nothing. He was reluctant at first because he has never travelled to the States. He really has no desire to travel anywhere. But I managed to convince him…beg him really! LOL
We had a great time and the weather was AWESOME! I found a lot of lower fat foods that I can’t buy here in Canada. Including some WW Smart Ones. I got some frozen ice cream pie things which are super yummy. I checked the grocery here and we don’t have them
Boo. Oh well. Peter also found some clothes and some Magic game cards that he wanted. There were TONS of dvds that we go too! I even found Family Matters: Season 1 on dvd!!!! I have been waiting forever for it to come out! Ah, now I hope they don’t wait too long to release the remaining 8 seasons.
We went to the most delicious Mexican restaurant while we were there. It’s called On The Border. I think it’s a pretty famous chain in the States owned by Chili’s. I want to move to Great Falls just so I can eat at OTB every week!! It was phenomenal food. I also had 2 margaritas which were to die for. AH! I desperately wish we had a Mexican restaurant here in Calgary that is half as good as OTB!! AH. I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond yesterday and saw a huge container of OTB Strawberry Margarita mix. I might have to pick it up next time I am there….although it’s not a good indulgence for WW if I have it on hand all the time
So I applied for a US Mastercard because I have been taking quite a few trips to the States lately and I have even more planned. I am going 3 more times before 2010 is over. The credit card will be way easier than carrying around tons of US money. Safer too! YAY.
On a different note, I made a new couscous recipe for supper last night that called for pine nuts. I went to buy them yesterday and found out that they are extremely expensive little buggers! All the other nuts were between $0.40-$1.50 for 100 grams and the pine nuts were $6.59 for 100 grams!!! I couldn’t believe it. I bought them anyway and the couscous was so delicious. I guess they are worth the price. But I won’t be buying them very often, that’s for sure. I wonder why they are so expensive anyway?! Maybe they are really hard to extract from the tree or something. Who knows! Oh well
My name is Carolynne. I am 24 years old, I live in Calgary and I am an extrememly PROUD Canadian! I am married to the love of my life, Peter. My favourite thing to do is watch movies and cross stitch. I also enjoy listening to country music. My favourite place in the world is Disneyland!

Oh man, Family Matters! You just brought back so many memories of sitting at my grandma’s on Friday nights watching TGIF that featured Family Matters! Who doesn’t love them some Steve Urkel?! Lol.
I never knew pine nuts were so expensive! Hopefully the couscous was delicious and worth paying for the expensive nuts!
I’m glad you had such a great time
Haha, Family Matters used to be aired here as well, I watched it every day after school. Been years since I last saw an episode xD
I have never heard of On The Border but I love Chili’s! Glad to hear you and your husband had a good time. It’s always nice to get away and have some fun.
