Amazing Vacation

Well I had an absolutely fantastic trip to Disney World! It was amazing. We were able to visit all 4 parks in the Disney World area and even got back to the Magic Kingdom twice more! And how we can forget the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios!!! Ah! We also attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and even managed to dress up! :grin:

Oh I don’t even know where to start. Well I guess I will start with St. John’s, Newfoundland. We visited there for 3 days before heading off to Orlando. My mom had a conference and so I toured the city while Mom was in meetings. I walked from the hotel to a mall and then from there, I walked to another mall but I was waaay too tired to walk back to the hotel so I took the bus. I definitely got my exercise that day as I walked about 15kms. I didn’t buy anything but it was still nice. St John’s had just experienced Hurricane Igor the day before we arrived and so there were trees uprooted, branches everywhere, power outages and huge amounts of wind. It was pretty scary to see the aftermath. I am glad we weren’t there for when the Hurricane actually hit! :{

On the way to Orlando, Mom and I watched Eclipse on the plane! I finally got to see it. I never got around to going out to the theatres to see it and then it was gone before I knew it. It was pretty good. In the Twilight books, I totally rooted for Edward, but the movies make me root for Jacob! That’s a little weird, no?!

Anyway, we visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the first day in Orlando. It was mostly watching shows and a few movie themed rides. We got to see Fantasmic in the evening and that rounded out our first day perfectly! The outdoor theatre that Fantasmic is presented in seats about 7000 people and it was packed! I couldn’t believe how full it was. The show was amazing, as usual.

On the second day, we had to visit the most important of the Disney parks, the Magic Kingdom. This park was the one that we were familiar with as it is just like Disneyland. It has most of the same rides and all the same magic! We were able to go on all the rides we had wanted to visit, plus a few more. We made sure to watch the parade and the fireworks. It’s all part of the Disney experience. Mickey is everyone’s hero in the land of Disney!

The third day we went to Universal Studios and to HARRY POTTER WORLD!! Ah. It was so cool to be able to walk the streets of Hogsmeade. I have to admit that it was a little overwhelming because it was so busy. There were so many people and the shops were packed. But I enjoyed myself all the same. AND we go to drink Butterbeer :razz: It’s very tasty. It’s hard to describe. It’s like drinking pop and then they put a yummy ice cream on top to make it look like beer. It’s so delicious. They had a frozen version and just a normal version. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take it home. They did have pumpkin juice that we took home. It even has a little pumpkin as the lid. It was not very good however. Oh well, at least I can say I have tried pumpkin juice from Harry Potter! We didn’t go on any of the 3 HP themed rides. The lines were over an hour wait and we aren’t really big ride people anyway. I just wish that we were able to see inside the castle without going on the ride. :(

The fourth day we went to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was neat to go on a safari and see different animals like elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos, etc. But the real highlight of the day was seeing Finding Nemo: The Musical!!! It was SO SO SO SO amazing!!! I probably watched the entire show with my mouth wide open :o I couldn’t believe the magic that appeared before my eyes. The actors were dressed in beautifully coloured costumes and they all used puppets to represent the characters. The amount of creativity that went into the show was phenomenal. I am still in awe as I think about it now. The songs weren’t anything very exciting, it was just the set and props that made the show so great. If any of you are going to Disney World soon (Cristina, this means you!!!) you HAVE TO GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!! You will not regret it :oops:

The fifth day we went over to our last park, Disney’s Epcot. It was probably my least favourite of all the parks that we visited, but I still had a good time. Heck, we were able to go around the world in one day! I travelled from America to Japan to Norway to Italy and all over. It was very cool. They were having their annual food & wine festival so there were many things to drink and eat that come from all over the world. We even travelled into space and helped create our own future in one ride! The fireworks were amazing here at Epcot too.

After we had had our first experience at each of the parks, we decided where we wanted to go back to as we still had 3 days left. We decided to spend one more full day at the Magic Kingdom and then another half day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. With most of the leftover time, we shopped. We went to the Florida mall, a few wal-marts, a few grocery stores and also some specialty gift stores (as they were everywhere!).

On our last night in Orlando, we decided to spend a little extra money and buy a ticket for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. Mom and I both bought Mickey Halloween shirts and ears and those were our costumes. Plus our flashing pumpkin and ghost necklaces :upsidedown: It was an amazing feeling to be an adult and be able to go trick or treating! My mom even got a great haul of candy. Oh it was neat. Disney makes you feel like such a big kid and I love that!! :heart: All the trick or treaters got their very own Halloween parade and fireworks. Plus, the villains of Disney put on a little stage show. We were able to see some of the rare characters that aren’t usually out. Whoot.

I am so sure I missed many many parts of our trip, but I don’t think that I can write any more about it now. All I can say is that the trip flew by way too fast. I can’t believe that it’s over. We planned for over a year and now it’s come and gone. *sighs* It was a wonderful vacation. I was happy that I could spend that time alone with my mom. It was definitely the trip of lifetime :smirk:

    Wowee! It sounds as if your holiday was amazing! I’ve never been to Disney World (only EuroDisney in Paris), but it was in our list of ‘maybes’ for our honeymoon. I think when we have kids, we’ll take them. :heart:

    Thanks for your lovely comments at my blog. :love:

    Loadsa love,

    I haven’t been to Walt Disney since 2001 and I have wanted to go back since! Sounds like you had a magical time! So jealous that you got to go the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Did you take any pictures?
