So we have finally had our first big snowfall of the season. It was late in the season, but it’s lasting forever. It has been snowing non-stop since Monday. It isn’t supposed to stop for the next few days either. I am very upset because we were supposed to take a trip to Great Falls, Montana this weekend but we have had to cancel it due to the weather. The weather has been so nice but of course, just before we want to take a road trip, it has to do a 360. ARGH. Oh well. We are going to try to go again in January or February. It sucks because I have this weekend off and now I can’t get any shifts. I will just be sitting at home doing nothing. Oh well.
Something terrible has happened because of the snow as well. My parents and grandmother gave both Peter and I early Christmas gifts this year. They gave us each a portable garage for our new garage pad that we built in May. As we plan on building a garage in the next 5 years, we were going to use these portable garages until them.
Well, on Monday night, at about 1:15AM, we heard a huge bang come from outside. We looked out the window at our cars in the backyard and there were no garages over them. WTH!! So we looked out the window in the front yard and there were our garages!!! They had flown up over our cars, over our house and into the front yard. They only stopped rolling because they got stuck on the neighbours cars in the front yard.
We spent over an hour trying to untangle the garages and get them away from the cars. Luckily there was no damage to anything that the garages touched/rolled past. A whole bunch of the poles were bent and the tent material was ripped a little bit. Some parts are salvageable, but some are not. And besides that, I don’t know what more we can do to make them stay put with the wind. We had them pegged and bricked down. Because we have a huge field behind our house, we have a huge wind tunnel that comes into our yard. The only other thing we can do is nail the portable garages to the cement.
We have emailed the company to try and get more poles and bolts to replace the ones that were wrecked. We can’t put them back up until the snow is gone and it doesn’t look like that is going to happen any time soon. I am just so upset about them
Anyway, I am just hiding in my house for the next few days because I really hate winter driving.
