It is supposed to be Boxing Day today, isn’t it?! I mean isn’t the world supposed to be shopping their hearts out and crowding all the stores?! Well, let me tell you this: everywhere I was today was DEAD! I just couldn’t believe it.
I had to work today and we were so slow, which really kind of sucks. When working in a restaurant, I want it to be busy so that I can make some tips..but nothing happened. And because we are a breakfast restaurant, Sundays are usually our busiest day. It was crazy. So I went to 2 grocery stores after work and there was no one in them!! I was so confused. Shouldn’t people be stocking up on 50% off candy and Christmas stuff?!
My mom went Boxing Day shopping bright and early this morning and she told me that it was not very busy at all the stores she was at. I don’t really know what happened to boxing day this year! I think people must have been crowding into the electronic stores (Best Buy, Future Shop, etc.) because those were the only stores that my mom and I didn’t visit. Big ticket items like computers and TVs must be what people want this year!
Anyway, my Christmas was just wonderful. Peter and I celebrated Christmas with my side of the family on Christmas Eve and we came home with plenty of exciting goodies. On Christmas morning, I woke up and put my overnight french toast into the oven and then I went for a Christmas morning run. I saw one guy walking his dog and 3 cars and that was it. Everyone was sleeping in Then I came home and cooked up some turkey bacon and eggs and I got Peter out of bed to eat. It was delicious. We watched The Santa Clause 2 (as we watched TSC1 the night before) and then we exchanged gifts. From Peter, I got all 6 seasons of Sex & The City and both movies in a neat little collector’s set. I also got How To Train Your Dragon, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Shrek Forever After and some toffifee chocolate. My favourite gift of all was my new electric blanket! I have a real problem with keeping warm in my house so my new blanket is so nice and cosy and it helps a lot!
Peter and I still have to celebrate Christmas with his side of the family. We won’t be doing that until January 7 so my Christmas season just goes on and on I’m a lucky girl.
