Calories or Sweat?

Burning calories is important, right?! That’s why we all go to the gym. So lately, I have been wondering about calories on the cadio machines that I use at the gym. I always enter my weight and age when I start so that I can get the most accurate readings for calories. When I am done on a cardio machine, I look at how many calories I have burned.

On certain machines, I sweat quite a lot. But then again, on other machines, I only sweat just a little bit. Now what is weird, and what is boggling my mind, is that I tend to burn more calories on the machine where I don’t sweat as much. This is according to the calorie reading on the machine, of course. Then, on another machine, which says I burn the least amount of calories of all the machines I use, I sweat like crazy. šŸ˜›

So what machine gives me the most benefit? Should I go by the calories on the machines or by how sweaty I am? I just don’t know what to think. I work just as hard on all the machines.

Anyway, I tend to go longer on the machines where I sweat more as oppose to the ones that say I burn more calories. But it really makes me wonder!!

What do you think??

It’s difficult! On my old elliptical it said that I used about 300 kcal on 10 km, but on my new one it only says 150 kcal, even though I work just as hard on both. I researched it and 150 seems to be the most correct (boo!) according to my body and weight. But I have also noticed that I get tired in a different way when I do strength. I don’t sweat as much, but it feels like it’s just as effective. Ah, I don’t know. I want to get one of those clocks or heart rate monitors that I can strap on my wrist or arm to get more accurate readings, maybe that makes it easier!

Unfortunately I never have been on any exercise machine so I can not help you there. LOL

Thanks for the comments. I have wrist warmers, but they don’t help with the pain in my fingers which is what prevents me from cross stitching in the winter. Don’t worry, I have plenty of cross stitching. My needle is yelling at me & I am dying to stick it into some fabric, lol. I have an Ink Circle that I am working on at home & I will be starting Frederick the Literate (cat on bookcase) for a friend real soon. So never fear there will be more cross stitching.
