Nothing To Report

Well, I haven’t really felt like blogging lately. I don’t really have anything important to say. Oh well. It’s been snowing like mad here. In the past 48 hours, we have received over a foot of snow and it’s been terrible. We just finished having a chinook for the past week and so the weather has been so lovely. Everything was starting to melt. And now all of a sudden it’s winter again. Argh.

I got stuck in the alley this morning as I was trying to get to work. I was backing out of the parking pad and got stuck. I preceded to try and go back and forth to move myself free, but all I did was create ice and make it impossible to move. My tires were just continuously spinning. Thank goodness Peter was home and he was able to dig me out and push me through the alley. It sucked. I was late for work. What an awful way to start a Sunday morning. Ugh. Oh well. I have parked out front of the house for now. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

I went to see 127 Hours with a friend after work today. What a heavy movie! It must have been such a terrible situation to be in. James Franco did a great job. He definitely deserves the Oscar nod he received. He was basically the only actor in the entire movie and he still managed to keep our attention. I couldn’t look at the screen for the “amputation” as it was very graphic. But the movie was worth seeing, overall.

I think I need to start menu planning. I want to decide what I am going to eat for the entire week so that I have a plan and am not wondering what in the world to make for supper. Because usually that leads to just eating out and it gets expensive and unhealthy. I just have to get the real motivation to sit down on a Sunday night and book my week. Any pointers for menu/meal planning??

Oh and I am currently obsessed with Danica’s Daily and I don’t really know why!!

I want to see 127 Hours as well, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch that scene either. We’ve tried to plan our dinners ahead, but I realized that I can’t say “on Thursday we’re having fish and vegetables”, and then Thursday comes and I want a nice steak. But instead we try to plan a few dinners every week, and then we can choose what we want from day to day, without having to go shopping. We have a couple of very nice recipe sites that I use for inspiration, do you have anything like that?

I do go to some sites for inspiration by looking for recipes. Such as allrecipes.com or weightwatchers.ca but I usually just bookmark things and then forget. What are some of your sites that you visit?

The main one is matprat.no (“food talk”.no) but also dinmat.no (“your food”.no) I especially like the first one. I tried to run them through google translate since they’re in Norwegian, and the result was… well, not all bad. Just looks a bit funny with the Norwegian words popping up everywhere :D I’m going to check out those sites you listed for some more inspiration :D

A lot of people have been talking abut the film 127 hours, but the trailers that I have seen have not really taken my fancy as I am not a blood, guts and gore person.

I tend to only plan meals if I am short of money. I tend to make things like spaghetti bolegnese and make it last a couple of days. But this can get boring for most people, but as I live alone I am used to eating the same thing for a couple of days running.

I’ve heard quite a lot about that film, but not seen it and don’t know anyone who has seen it – It seems like it would be heavy going but interesting to watch.

We’ve had loads of snow here to recently, I managed to get my car stuck in my works car park!
