Seattle Space NeedlePeter and I are back from our trip to Seattle. We had a wonderful time! 😳 It was a great place to visit. We went at the perfect time as it was definitely not tourist season, therefore, it wasn’t very busy. It was a long drive to Seattle (14 hours) as we ran into a little bit of snow. But on the way home, it only took us 12.5 hours (because Peter sped). A long two days in the car, but totally worth the trip!! It was quite rainy in Seattle, but that beats the snow that we have here in Calgary. We went prepared with umbrellas and rain coats, so there was no complaining from us. I also bought a pair of rain boots at the Wal-Mart there because I had been meaning to get a pair for ages.

The hotel great. Free breakfast, free parking, free shuttle, free internet/wifi – what more can one ask for?! The only bad thing was that the hotel pool was closed for unexpected maintenance. But the hotel shuttled us over to one of their sister hotels so that we could use their swimming pool. That was great. The gym was open 24hrs. However, I only used it twice. We walked a lot around Seattle so I was still getting plenty of exercise.

In SeattleWe spent most of our time shopping. I am sure that Peter would have liked to relax a bit more, but I was go go go the whole time. I kept us busy. And we spent way too much money, of course. But that’s half the fun of going on vacation. We came home with some nice loot. I finally invested in some proper runners. I bought two pairs of nikes and the nike+ sensor for the shoes. Since I have started running a lot more, it just makes sense to have properly fitted runners. We also bought a lot of food products (low-fat stuff we can’t buy here), some books and movies. I also bought some new clothes as my wardrobe needs replenishing because nothing fits anymore.

Next To Normal PlaybillThe highlight of (and reason for) the trip was when I went to see the broadway musical Next To Normal. It was fantastic!!!!!  I have to say that it is the best broadway show I have ever seen!!! I was in awe the whole time. As soon as it was over, I was up on my feet giving them a standing ovation. Simply amazing. I knew the story pretty well because I have been obsessed with this musical for 2 years. I’ve listened to the soundtrack over and over. But nothing compares to seeing the actual show. I loved it so much. In case you don’t know what N2N is about, it is about a bi-polar woman and the affect her illness has on her and her family. Pair that with fantastic music and you have one DAMN great show! I just wish it would come to Calgary now so that I can see it again!

So we had a great time on vacation. It was short, but it was perfect. I loved spending so much time with Peter and I can’t wait to go camping with him in July. πŸ˜€

Oh guess what?! I won something! Can you believe it!! Ah. So I won the Week 107 Blogger Secret Ingredient. I submitted a recipe and mine was picked as the winner. Thanks so much to the host Marisa. She is now sending me a prize in the mail! I have no idea what it is going to be, but I am super excited.

Sounds like you had a great time! πŸ˜€ I’m going to buy my first pair of running shoes soon, they’re from a special store where they look at your feet while you stand on a glass plate and film how you run on a treadmill, so you get the best shoes possible. I am not going to ruin my legs by running in cheap shoes πŸ˜‰ Congrats on winning! πŸ˜€

sounds like a good time πŸ™‚ Shopping is my second favorite part of a vacation. First is eating, naturally.
I want to see Next to Normal and several other shows. We live so close to the city, I don’t know what’s stopping me. Money, time? Probably those things.
Congrats on winning the recipe thing πŸ™‚
