I have just put my oven for it’s first self clean since we moved in (almost 4 years ago) and to tell the truth, I am scared shitless. My parents have a self cleaning oven too, but as a child, I never used it. All I remember is one Christmas evening when our stove caught on fire during a self clean. We had finished a delicious turkey dinner and were all relaxing and playing with our new toys. Mom turned the oven on to self clean and then all of a sudden, my dad told my brother and I to get out of the house and into the garage. They had seen flames inside the oven. And of course because it was on self clean, the stove was locked. So they called the fire department, but by the time they arrived, my dad had managed to get the oven open and get the fire out with an extinguisher. It was one the the scariest memories I have from my childhood. Luckily, the only casualty was the oven and everything else/everyone was okay. So to make a short story long, I am cleaning my oven for the first time and I keep checking it every 15 minutes just to make sure there is no fire locked in the inside.

Well, it has been 21 days since my last blog post. I will honestly say I have thought of blogging for at least 18 of those days. I even have one half written in the drafts somewhere. But I thought I would start a fresh one tonight. I will probably pick the other one up sometime. It’s about careers and what I want to do with my life.

A lot has happened in the past few weeks. Yes, I bought the Toyota Matrix and I have been driving it around happily. I am still in love with my old car (my mustang) and I am still getting used to my new car. I haven’t really gotten to drive it in the snow yet, but I am sure the all-wheel drive will live up to it’s name.

A co-worker, my mom and I went to Great Falls, Montana for some shopping last week. It was wonderful, but short. I can’t believe it’s come and gone already. I was very proud of myself as I was very restrained in my buying. Normally I am buy, buy, buy without thinking about how much I’m spending. If I find a unique food or clothing product, I not only buy one, but several. I was waaaay better this year. I found myself saying no to a lot of unnecessary things. After all, I just bought a new car and we need to save our pennies for those payments. Plus, Christmas is coming and I want to be able to give some nice gifts. So it was a lovely trip and I look forward to the 4th annual Great Falls trip next year!!

I have been very lacking in the fitness department. Yesterday was the first time in over two weeks that I worked out. The guilt has been eating me alive, yet, it never got my butt off the couch. But I went yesterday and today and I plan on going tomorrow as well. I have to get back into my normal routine of going right after work. Time to finally get back to my goal weight.

I plan on writing another blog post in the next few days as I have a somewhat exciting announcement to make πŸ™‚

They are such a nice car but I definitely agree with the getting used to part haha. After my old clutch this new one is barely there! Lol

The hardest part about exercise is being motivated to do it lol. Especially in winter. Worst months ever!

Yay for a new car! Andrew and I have been shopping around, but probably won’t buy anything until after New Year’s. I’m with you on exercising, I need to get back to the gym!

Haha, when my parents used their self cleaning oven it just smelled bad so we cleaned it the old fashioned way again!

I’m glad you’re enjoying your new car!

Woo, congrats on the new car! I hope it lives up to it’s expectations in the snow =)

I didn’t even know there were self-cleaning ovens XD That must have been scary though, that thing catching fire >.< I once almost burned my room down as a kid because I'd put a candle right under a piece of paper, somehow. I was able to put it out myself, thank goodness, and nothing was lost, but I remember how panicked I was! My mom wouldn't let me keep candles in my room until I was 17 =P

How does a self-cleaning oven work? I’d like one xD

I think this is how it works: the oven gets super super hot and turns everything that’s not supposed to be in the oven to dust. After it’s done cleaning itself and the oven has cooled down, you just wipe it with a damp cloth to get rid of all the ashes πŸ™‚

Aha! That makes sense. I’m glad to hear it didn’t start to burn this time πŸ˜‰

I don’t even know if our oven has a self cleaning option … we don’t really clean our oven. it’s not so bad in there πŸ˜›

The trick with exercise is to think of it as something you have to do, and don’t try to talk yourself into doing it, just do it, before your brain realizes what you’re doing and has time to talk you out of it.
