Holiday Baking No-No

Holiday Baking DecisionsI was going to start my holiday baking this week. It didn’t happen. I also didn’t do any baking last year because I was still trying to lose weight. I didn’t want the goodies around to tempt me. This year, as I am maintaining, I figured it would be okay to have a little bit of baking around. I could give some away as gifts as well.

So I got out my 5 cherished recipes that I wanted to make. Well, after looking over the recipes, I really don’t think I will be making them. For 5 recipes, I need over 4 pounds of butter and 6 cups of sugar. xP Wow, kill me now and put all 70lbs back onto my body. UGH! I just can’t bring myself to make such fattening things.

The holidays are such a hard time of year to maintain one’s weight and this would not help!! Even if I tried to use some substitutions for the butter and sugar, the recipes would not taste the same and would be nowhere near as good. I guess it’s a lost cause. Oh well. I might give in and only make 2 recipes, but I doubt it.

In other news, I chipped my tooth last week. I was biting into a potato that was on the end of my fork and I bit so hard because I thought I would just get potato. Wrong, I ended up biting down very hard on the fork and chipping one of my bottom teeth. Fortunately, it was only on the corner and it was a very small chip. I went to the dentist to get it checked out and it didn’t even take 5 minutes to smooth the chip out. $70 dollars later. Oh well, most of it was covered by my insurance. Thank goodness. Nobody can notice the small chip, which is lucky. I sure hope it doesn’t happen again.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my first running event is tomorrow and I am so excited. I picked up my shirt and race kit last night. It will be very exciting!! I’ll recap sometime in the next few days.

    Wow, that’s seriously a lot of butter. Have you considered using non-fattening substitues for the butter and sugar? You could use Splenda instead of sugar, for instance, I’ve done that before in attempt to play nice with my diabetes. ๐Ÿ˜› The cupcakes tasted a bit sweeter than normal and the texture was a bit different but no one else noticed these differences but me. I’m sure there’s some vegan or healthier substitute for butter!

      I was definitely thinking about substituting splenda. I will have to look into other butter substitutes. But I have to say, nothing beats the real thing ๐Ÿ™

    I’ve done that twice, with the fork. One was my front tooth that the dentist had to fill in like a cavity, lol. $150, but at least it looks normal now ๐Ÿ™‚

    Ugh, holidays are never good for your diet. And I have a serious sweet tooth so it’s almost impossible to say no >_< I haven't baked anything myself, but soon I'll get a visit from my mother, and she'll fill my fridge with cookies whether I want to or not ๐Ÿ˜› Guess I'll just have to exercise more…
