Toronto Bound

My mom is going to Ontario next week for a conference and she is taking me with her! We will be visiting my Aunt and Uncle in Cambridge, Ontario for 2 days and then taking the train into Toronto for the 3 day conference. After that we will be heading back to Cambridge for 2 more days with my relatives.

It will be a random, but eventful trip. While we are in Toronto, I will be by myself during the day. I plan on exploring downtown Toronto, doing a little shopping and relaxing while reading my book or cross stitching. We are staying at the Hyatt Regency and it looks like it is a very high end hotel. It has beautiful exercise room with state of the art equipment, so I will probably spend a little time in there too. Maybe I’ll go for a dip in the pool as well!

Shrek The Musical To my enormous delight, we discovered that Shrek The Musical will be playing in Toronto at the exact same time we are there. I could not be more excited. I made sure to scour the online ticket sellers and I managed to snag 4 front row tickets to the show!!! My Aunt and Uncle will be driving into Toronto to see the show with us too. 😀 This is a musical I have wanted to see ever since it first debuted on Broadway a couple years ago. I LOVE the Shrek series and it is so amazing that they have turned the story into a musical. I have to admit that ever since I bought the soundtrack for the musical, I find it really hard to watch the movie without the songs. It’s just not the same anymore. I wish they had thought of a musical version for the movie. Haha. So seeing this musical will definitely be the highlight of our trip. I am such a sucker for broadway. I am hoping to buy a t-shirt from the show at the gift shop. I love theatre memorbilia. I have so many show t-shirts. I love them because every time I wear the shirt, it makes me remember the show that I saw. I wish I could go to NY City and see a different broadway show every night!! Maybe one day, when I will the lottery 😉

One of the main reasons I am actually going with my Mom to Ontario is because I worked for almost 10 months to make a cross stitch of my Uncle and his granddaughter. It was the first cross stitch I have ever made with a photo. I had an online friend use her cross stitching software to convert a photo to a pattern. The result is beautiful and I want to deliver the framed piece in person. There is no way I was going to mail it to him and I don’t want my mom to deliver it without me. I worked so hard on it and so I really want to see my Uncle’s face when I give it to him. This is the best photo I have of the cross stitch at the moment.

We don’t leave until March 18 and so I might be posting before I leave. But if I don’t, you are sure to hear all about my trip when I return on the 24th.

Exciting! I’m not a big fan of Toronto (too dirty compared to Calgary, I guess), but it’s nice to get away. I’m headed out there for a long weekend at the end of April to see friends (and meet some online friends). Sooo exciting about seeing a musical though! I splurged on a second row ticket to Wicked in London and I pretty much died from excitement and the show was so beautiful I cried throughout. I kind of did the same thing when the touring production was here, but in 2nd row in what’s pretty much the next best things after Broadway itself… amazing. I hope you have a great time in Torontorz! That cross stitch is GORGEOUS, your uncle will love it. 😀

That sounds wonderful! Have a fabulous time, and take lots of pictures 🙂

The cross-stitch really is gorgeous, you must have worked so hard on that. Your uncle will love it for sure.

Hello fello Calgarian! That’s my hometown but now I’m in Edmonton. It’s great to meet another blogger from the same hometown! I hope you enjoy Toronto! Apparently it’s a site and culture out there. I never knew there was a Shrek Musical so I hope you enjoy and do tell us how it’s like!

oh my word ! You are one busy lady but, it sounds like it’s going to be a blast.

The musical sounds like a lot of fun. I have only gone to see one Musical and that was Mama Mia and both my husband and I loved it.

I hope the musical and trip it turns out to be better than your expectations. I’m so looking forward to that post!

As far as the cross stich…. OH MY HECK! That is awesome. I honestly thought it was a framed picture. You did a fantastic job. I know your uncle is going to love it! BTW who is that child in the picture? Because I have a feeling whoever it is will want the cross stitched pic as well.

    Have fun on your trip!
