For the first time in my entire life I’ve lost my voice. I can’t say that I wanted it to happen, but now that it has, I know it’s not something I want to happen ever again. It really sucks. I had been battling a sore throat for a few days and just when I started to think it was getting better, I woke up and had no voice. Crazy. I had to work that day too. Luckily, it was my Friday. I was surprised that only 2 people said something about it. Anyway, today it is finally starting to sound somewhat normal. I am ready to be done with this sickness. I feel gross.
An upside to this week is that I have been cat sitting my co-worker’s cat. She is very cute. She’s a long haired with a “lion” haircut for the summer. Her name is Smokey and she is quite different than the cat I took care of in January. She is definitely a senior cat and I think she has some dental issues. Her tongue is often just sticking out of her mouth. Like she’s contemplating something! LOL She doesn’t like to be held and she doesn’t sit on my lap. She likes to be pet, but only a little, mostly on her head and ears. She tends to lick herself after I pet her, like I have cooties or something. She also likes to lick. I mean A LOT. She will spend 10 minutes straight just licking my hands. It doesn’t matter if they are freshly cleaned or not. She licks and licks. It’s kind of a adorable, but my hand does hurt after a while. Sadly, she goes back to her owners tomorrow. However, I have really enjoyed having her around.
Peter left today for a wedding this weekend in Kelowna, BC. It’s about an 8 hour drive from Calgary. I am sad that he left as I find it hard to be in the house alone. I have grown so used to him being here. I know I will have a little trouble falling asleep, but at least I have the kitty for one more night. I would have gone to the wedding too, but it seemed like everyone and their dog needed the weekend off from work for something. Ah well, at least it’s only a couple days.
