NaBloPoMo: Day 14 – Florida Vacation: Day 1

NaBloPoMo: Day 14

We headed off to the Magic Kingdom today. The parked opened at 8am so we were up and going at 6am, which was technically 4am our time. Yeah, it was early, but I am so glad we got up! We were halfway done the park by 11am because there were hardly any lines. We even had an entire show at the Enchanted Tiki Room all to ourselves.

Anyway, before the park opens every day, they have Mickey & Minnie Mouse and some other characters come out and sing a song of good morning and then we all count down from 10 seconds to open the doors. It is just a little thing they do, but it’s so special. I have to admit that it actually brought tears to my eyes. I was so glad to be there at Disney. It is such a magical place. The cast members and everyone around always make you feel so welcome. It was like coming home.

So as I said above, we didn’t wait in any lines for most of the morning. We could have gone on all the rides in Adventure and Frontier lands numerous times in a row without waiting. It was awesome. However, as we wanted to get through the whole park, the only ride we doubled up on was Pirates of the Caribbean. We took pictures and I totally got photo bombed. The pirate (cast member) in this picture ran up just as Peter was taking the picture. It was perfect!!!

By noon could see the park was getting busier and busier. We skipped most of the rides in Fantasy land as those had 45 minute waits. Those rides are better for smaller kids anyway. We finished off most everything else we missed and watched the parade and headed out. We left around 5pm.

For dinner we headed over to the Cheesecake Factory. Our food was so good. I just wish they didn’t have such a huge menu because there are so many things I want to try, but unfortunately don’t have enough time. We didn’t even have room for cheesecake 🙁 Who knows, we might go back on another day of our trip.

Day 1 of our vacation was great and I look forward to visiting Hollywood Studios tomorrow.

you went to the cheesecake factory and didn’t have any cheesecake?????? I don’t think we can be friends anymore. If you go back, the pineapple-upside-down cheesecake. OMG.

Going early is definitely a good strategy. I approve of your touring decisions. The fantasy land dark rides are cute, but yeah, definitely not worth waiting 45 minutes for. 20 minutes tops.
