Merry Christmas to everyone! I sure hope some nice time was spent with family and lots of good food was eaten. Peter and I had a wonderful Christmas. It was a quiet one and there was very little stress, which was awesome. On Christmas eve, we exchanged gifts with my family and my grandmother. We ordered Chinese food and enjoyed the nice company. I was spoiled, but no one went absolutely overboard on gifts this year. In the last few years, I’ve realized that everyone (including us) just gave too many gifts and I hate that Christmas has become so commercial. So Peter and I vowed to only give one big gift per person and maybe a small stocking gift too. I received some iPhone accessories, a small crock pot, some gift cards, chocolate, magnetic spice containers, some running stuff and a night in Banff, AB. You can see all my gifts here.
On Christmas morning, we opened gifts, just the two of us. Peter got me a Canadian themed steering wheel cover. I have never seen something like that before and I am totally stoked that he found it!! He also gave me a Canadian flag for my flag pole, some dvds and a bright red frying pan. He’s my hero and knows me perfectly. Gifts from Peter are here.
For the past 8 years, we have gone to my parent’s house for a traditional Christmas turkey dinner. However, this year we decided to change things up and we went over to Peter’s parent’s house instead. They provided turkey, potatoes, vegetables and buns. I brought over stuffing with gravy and I also made cheesecake and pumpkin pie. I am very proud to say that I didn’t over indulge like I normally do. I ate just enough and was a comfortable full. It’s just great to know that I have learned when to stop and how much my body likes to eat before being too overly stuffed.
We still have another Christmas gift exchange with Peter’s family. We are awaiting two people to come into town and then we are getting together on Saturday. I kind of hate that we have to wait so long for the last part of our Christmas. Reason being is that I always ask for an assortment of dvds for Christmas. If I don’t receive the ones I want, I love going out during Boxing week to hopefully grab the dvds I wanted on sale. So I got really anxious today and went to check out the dvds anyway. Yes, I bought some that are on my list, but I can always bring them back if I end up receiving them.
Again, Merry Christmas from Peter and I!
