Peter and I had so much fun at Comic Expo last year that we decided to go again this year. We didn’t do anything very exciting like the panels, photo-ops or autographs, but we did spend some time looking around at the booths and celebrity watching.
I had a very exciting experience as soon as we walked in the doors. The entrance was right at all the autograph tables and so Peter and I were looking around to see if we could see any celebrities we liked. Wil Wheaton was right up front and we sort of stood there for a minute. He was just getting settled to start signing autographs and he looked right over at us. I gave him my best “live long and prosper” hand sign and he waved and smiled at me! It made my day. I was totally giddy for the rest of our time. I’m not even a huge fan of him, but it was this little interaction that was the highlight of the day. I also got a glimpse of Nathan Fillion (OMG awesome!!!) Weird Al Yankovic, Daryl and Glenn from the Walking Dead and Gillian Anderson. So I’ve had my fill of celebrities for a tiny while.
In connection with the Comic Expo, Weird Al Yankovic had a concert last night and I wasn’t going to miss it for the world. It was a mind blowing show, to say the least. It was my fourth Weird Al concert and it was unbelievable, just like the previous ones. Weird Al is the best performer I have ever seen. He had so many great song themes and the special effects were out of this world. Both Weird Al and his whole band changed costumes for almost every song. It was so cool. There were some funny Weird Al themed videos that played between each song so that we were occupied while they were changing. His dance moves were so wacky and he had so much energy that the whole audience was bouncing with excitement. He even ventured out into the audience for one of his “sexier” numbers, Wanna B Ur Luver. Although this wasn’t from our show, it’s a pretty good account of what went down in the audience during that song. Although he mostly played songs from his newest album, Alpocalyspe, he indulged us with some of his older, best loved songs as well. I definitely had a wonderful time and I would jump at another opportunity to see Weird Al in concert again!!
Oh I also forgot to mention that last night I met Marie, who is an online friend!! It is the first time I can remember meeting someone I’ve known online first. I met her online years ago because she owned a wonderful Titanic website (which is still around!). So it was actually her who spotted me and came over to talk to me. So cool and I hope to see her again some time. After all, we both live in the greatest city ever. We had to grab a quick snapshot of us together. The Weird Al logo is conveniently in the background too!
I definitely had a nerdalicious weekend and I am already looking forward to next year’s event!! Maybe Peter and I will co-ordinate our costumes and dress up together!!
