Last Christmas, my in-laws mentioned that they wanted to celebrate our family Christmas in Florida for 2013. However, it wouldn’t be in December, it would be earlier in the fall because then we could also celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They own a vacation house in Cape Coral, FL and it would be able to house everyone comfortably. As as their Christmas gift, they would buy the flights as well as house and feed us. Talk about an amazingly generous gift, eh?!!
To say I was excited was an understatement. I couldn’t really believe they would give such a bountiful gift to all 6 of their kids. Alas, nothing had been mentioned again since Christmas and I had started to lose faith that it would not happen. When I plan a trip, especially one so far away that includes flights, I like to book everything well in advance. I don’t know why and it may be a bit crazy, but I need to have the reassurance that everything is confirmed early. Plus, both Peter and I have jobs where we need to give quite a bit of notice when we take vacations. As Peter is a manager of his own store, he can’t just take off at a moment’s notice.
Everything changed last week I received an email from my mother in-law that said she would like to book the flights and if the prospective dates would work for Peter and I. We both put in for the vacation the next day and were approved! YAY! So it is official that we will be spending Christmas in Florida in October!!
WAIT, that’s not all!! As Peter and I are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary this September, we have decided to stay an extra 6 nights in Florida and are going to Disney World to celebrate!! I came up with the idea and I was honestly scared to ask Peter. Only because it was a struggle to get him to agree to our first Disney vacation. That trip wasn’t even a year ago so I definitely didn’t think he would agree. You know what he said: Well I want to go. Never in a million years did I think he would ever want to go to Disney. I always thought I would have to drag him along. So I have converted him to be a Disney lover and I am so happy because of it!!
Yes, I am excited to spend a Christmas filled week with my family in Cape Coral, but I cannot lie that I am even more excited to spend the following week in Disney World. Oh and of course we will be going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter too. Oh and Medieval Times! Ah, so much to do and so little time. Our trip will take place from October 19 – November 2, so it is still a couple months away. I will have just enough time to book everything that I need to and get totally over the top excited!
