It really is the little things in life that make us happy. Just small things that can keep us going throughout the day, week or even month.
As you may or may not know, I work in a breakfast restaurant. This weekend, I met a little boy who made me smile all weekend. I brought his pancakes to the table and he was busy colouring away on his sheet. He wanted to finish so that he could put it on the wall before he left. As I put the plate down he said, “thank you for my pancakes!” I said you’re welcome and that’s when he looked at me. He saw my earrings first (which were little red spoons and forks) and he said, “I love your earrings!” Then he kind of tilted his head and said, ever so plainly, “you are really beautiful. If I brought a coin I would give it to you!” He was 100% sincere. I blushed and thanked that little boy. Then I walked away smiling. It was one of those moments where you can see the innocence in a child. The little boy wanted nothing more than to speak what was on his mind and by doing so, he made my day. It was so adorable.
Another little thing happened this week was while I was running. I may or may not have had What The Fox Say? playing on a loop on my iPhone while I was running. The beat to this song is so fast and without even knowing it, I ran my fastest average pace in a long time. 5:36 per kilometer. In fact, I don’t even know if I have ever run that fast before. I knew I was going a bit faster, as my breathing was a bit heavier, but when I finished and finally looked at my overall pace, I was shocked. After about 20 minutes however, I had to change the song because I was sick of hearing the same one lol.
I hope for many things in life and being happy is one of them. I have to say that so far, I am achieving that goal. I love my happy little life and I only hope it continues to be so great, with many more “little things” along the way.
