Watching lately

Oh it has been a busy month for watching TV shows. All of my summer shows have finished (or are ending tonight) and a lot of my fall/winter shows are starting their new seasons. I still have episodes from last season that I haven’t caught up on. I think my problem is that I try to watch too many TV shows. Seriously, I am a little scared to make a list of ALL the shows I watch. Ah. Here are my opinions on a few. Oh and this post may contain spoilers!!

Dexter FinaleDexter had it’s SERIES finale last week. It was a sad week this week. Sundays will never be quite the same. I LOVE Dexter. The show was so brilliant and definitely tested many boundaries. Season 4 was my absolute favourite. That was the season in which John Lithgow was Dexter’s antagonist. Man, does he ever play a great villain. Anyway, I hate to say this, but it was actually easier to say goodbye to this show than it should have been. My reasoning behind this is that this final season was not very good. It wasn’t the typical Dexter that we knew and loved. There were very few moments where we actually saw Dexter doing what any serial killer likes to do: kill. This season was really all about relationships and emotional drama. If I wanted to watch that, I would tune into some of the other TV shows that I watch. It was a disappointing season to end with and so I have slowly been saying goodbye since June. I will be sad that there won’t be any more Dexter on TV, but I suppose I will just have to get back into the books. PS: How horrible does Dexter look with a beard?! Ick.

How I Met Your MotherHow I Met Your Mother is finishing up this year with it’s final season. This is another one I will be sad to see finish. Although, they have dragged it out for 9 seasons before Ted finally meets the mother, it will have been a great run. Such a funny show. Barney Stinson (aka Neil Patrick Harris) is the main reason people keep coming back for more on this show. He basically is the entire show. Anyway, I am a little apprehensive because this entire season will contain only 3 days of the character’s lives. It is going to DRAG. I do not do well when only an hour of time passes for the characters as it does for us too. I like each episode to be at least a couple days worth of character’s time. I don’t know if this season will flow or if it will be as if they are just trying to waste time until the end. I feel a bit better because the audience has already met the mother and so we are just waiting on Ted to get to it. Anyway, I am hoping for some crazy surprises throughout the season.

Breaking Bad has it’s season finale tonight. I will hopefully be watching it tomorrow after work. I like the show, but I have never become super attached to it. Yes, I’ve seen every episode, but it is not a show I will ever re-watch. It is a bit too crude for me. I really hate how they portray that to break the law is okay, as long as it is to provide for your family. There definitely aren’t many good lessons in the show. At least, I didn’t take anything useful from it. There has been some talk that Breaking Bad is the best written TV show in history, but I don’t know. I guess I just can’t get past the fact that there were so many horrible things that happened to the people in the show. Oh well, as of tonight, that will be it for Breaking Bad.

Vampire DiariesThe Vampire Diaries also starts this week. I’ve become less and less interested over the past 2 seasons, but I will still watch this season. They might throw something interesting in the mix. We have to find out what will happen to Stefan this season, as he was locked in a safe and thrown to the bottom of a lake by Silas, who then took his place. Plus, Elena and her friends have finally graduated and are leaving high school. It’s about time. Let’s see what their college life will bring. But I have to be completely honest, really the only reason I still watch the show is to gawk at Ian Somerhalder and his smouldering eyes. It is my eye candy porn for the week. Oh yes.

I’m looking forward to The Good Wife starting up again tonight. At the end of last season, Alicia took a big leap and possibly (maybe?) left her current law firm and is joining up with Cary at a new one. I don’t really know if this will actually pan out, but I am interested to see what the season will bring! Also, what about her and Will then?! If she no longer works for him, then will she finally leave her good for nothing husband and get with Will?! I just don’t know.

Some others that have started or will be starting up are Glee, The Big Bang Theory, Once Upon A Time, NCIS, Survivor and so many more. Yes, I am a little embarrassed. I don’t even know where I find the time to watch them all too. Maybe that’s why I am still behind from last season on so many of them. Haha, good luck to me!

Hey there! I’m not sure how we ever fell out of touch but I am glad to see you dropped by my blog recently. I hope you are doing well.

Yes, Dexter has been a bit of a disappointment. Though honestly I’ve never been too into the show and only started watching a bit the last couple of seasons, the ending was still a disappointment. I can’t imagine how the die hard fans felt about it. My husband is crushed.

Breaking Bad finale was amazing, but of course I am of the opinion that it is indeed the best show in the history of ever. It’s better than anything I ever watched before and I’m sad to see it end. There will be a spin off called Better Call Saul if you haven’t heard and might like to give that a chance? I’m going to give it a shot, we will see.

Otherwise this season I will be watching: Big Bang Theory, Saturday Night Live, Family Guy, The Simpsons, South Park, and I am going to give Brooklyn Nine Nine a shot, too. That’s all though, a lot of shows I used to watch are over now.

You watch a lot of shows! I don’t follow that many. I’m the type that just turns on the TV and watches whatever is on at the time, haha.

Everyone seems to have the same opinion of the Dexter final season and episode. That’s too bad that it ended on such a bad note. I tried the series a while ago, and I kind of forgot to keep up with it.

My husband loves Breaking Bad, but I couldn’t really get into it. I stopped around season 2 and just saw bits here and there when he was watching it. I did watch the finale though and liked how it tied up everything.

Agents of SHIELD just started, so I’m giving that a try now!
