Halfway through

Florida sunset

Peter and I are halfway through our Florida vacation. We have spent the last week in Cape Coral with Peter’s parents, siblings and spouses. I had thought 9 people in one house would be too much, but it turned out great. I didn’t feel crowded at all and if I wanted alone time, there was no problem. There was also always someone to talk to if I wanted. It was a great week.

My in-laws paid for absolutely everything. There were no arguments about it. I bought some wine that I wanted, but my mother in-law got upset and reimbursed me for it. There was something called the magic list that stayed on the counter. If someone wanted something in the house for the week, one only had to write it on the list and it would appear by the morning. My MIL shopped at night so the fridge was always stocked in the AM. Every single activity we participated in was covered as well. It was so unusual to have everything paid for, especially as an adult. I am so used to paying for my share of things. It was an absolute treat. I am so grateful. I also don’t expect Christmas presents for many future years!! I tried to say thank you as much as I could!

Riding in the boat!

We did so many fun things this week. Some of these included Parasailing (although I did not participate in this), mini-golfing, a nature walk, mystery dinner theatre on a train, a Segway tour, go-karting, wine tasting, boating and so much more. The in-laws had rented a boat for the entire week. I had no intention of stepping aboard, but I was promised a smooth ride, so I did. I ended up going out 3 times over the week. First time was a slow short ride. Second was a bit longer and I actually got to drive the boat!! So scary. My FIL kept increasing the speed and I was freaking out a bit, but it wasn’t really that hard, just nerve wracking. The third time was honestly dreadful. We were out for 3 hours and the water was so rocky. It was cold and windy and the waves kept splashing over the side of the boat soaking us in salt water. I really really had to pee too and there was nowhere to go. Torture! I wasn’t about to squat over the side of the boat either. The guys had it so easy. I was jealous! So after the 3rd trip, I decided I had enough boating for a long time. Although, I am still completely 100% shocked that I didn’t get motion sick at all when I was on the boat. I didn’t even get nauseated. That was a major relief. Maybe I have over come that part of my life?

The in-laws celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this week and that was the main reason the whole family came to Cape Coral. From being surrounded by all the love this week, I know that Peter and I will be just as happy and in love in 35 years from now as his parents are.

We went on a romantic sunset and dolphin watching cruise to finish off this week. The dolphins were out and very playful. We got some great photos!

Playful dolphins

Peter and I are off tomorrow to Kissimmee for our next vacation adventure in Disney World. We are so fortunate to be able to have 2 vacations all at once!

Wow, that’s so nice of your in-laws to pay for everything! I’m amazed that your mother-in-law stocks the fridge every day. All of the activities you’ve done so far sound really fun :) That’s unfortunate about the third boating trip, but it’s good that you didn’t get sea sick. I’m not sure if I get sea sick, but I always take Bonine just incase.

That’s awesome that you saw dolphins! We’ve been wanting to do one of those dolphin boating trips in Hawaii but haven’t yet. Have fun at Disney! :)
