NaBloPoMo 2013: Day 3 – Updating craze

I can’t believe how many updates I have had to complete today from the 2 weeks I was away. Those software developers really know what they are doing. They keep their applications up to date as much as possible with security fixes and improvements. Very impressive.

I think I had 20+ iPhone/iPad apps to update. I also had a full iPhone software update to complete. That took two tries because our internet conked out in the middle of the first software download. It was at 95% complete as well. 😡 I had to start over again and it took over an hour.

There were also a couple computer software updates to install on my iMac too. I still want to download Mavericks sometime as well, so that will be another huge undertaking. I am still using Snow Leopard, so I am a little nervous about changing my whole operation system. I never even considered Lion or Mountain Lion, but now that this new OS is free to upgrade, I figure why not?! However, I am so used to how my computer works that I might be totally messed up with a complete OS change. I better read some reviews on people who have switched to Mavericks already!

So when I came to my control panel today to blog today, I found another update! I saw that I needed to update my current version of wordpress. YAY. Then there were 2 plugins that needed to be updated as well.

I have pressed so many update buttons today that I don’t know if I can possibly press another ever again. :blank: Phew. I go away for two weeks and everything changes. CRAZY. I am happy to be updated to the newest version of everything I can, however.

Oh wow! Then I bet you were happy to see that one of the recent WordPress changes allows the blog to automatically install lesser updates? 😀

I upgraded to Mavericks, and overall it’s a very smooth transition; you won’t notice too much of a difference.

Do you have iOS7 on your phone? It has the ability to autoupdate apps in the background. One less update button you’ll have to push!

Yes, I knew about the auto update thing but I am more concerned that it will drain my battery. Also, will it update only under wifi or will it do it under LTE as well? I usually wait until I have wifi so that I don’t use up my data to update things.
