My husband pre-ordered a Playstation 4 from amazon back in July. They promised their customers 14,000 models available for pre-sale to be shipped out for the release date. To our utter disappointment, Peter has now found out that he will no longer receive a PS4 when it is released on November 15th. The reason they gave was Sony only manufactured 8000 units and he was somewhere in the 9000s when he ordered. He is still on the list to receive one, someday, but who knows when that will be. This has caused a lot of disappointment for Peter as he has been looking forward to this new unit for years. Of course, every place in the city is sold out and has been for months. He made the effort to order early and now he is left in the dust.
Alright, I realize it is not directly amazon’s fault, as Sony are the ones who have failed to provide the necessary amount. However, Peter chose amazon to order from instead of anywhere else. He did not put any money down to secure his unit, as it was not required, but he would have done so if necessary. Obviously that wouldn’t have changed anything anyway. I really do not think it is fair that Peter has been thrown to the dirt. In my opinion, I believe he deserves something else from amazon. A gift card, credit or something!! Really though, Sony should give Amazon something to pass along to their customers who have been put in this situation. I think this whole ordeal is complete and utter crap and I know Peter isn’t the only one who has been shafted either.
So now I am interested in some advice. Am I completely over reacting? Should I just forget the whole thing and hope for Peter’s system to arrive sooner rather than later? Or should I contact amazon and see if they can do something for us? Please help!
