So far so good

So week 1 of trying to eat better and exercising has gone well. I’ve lost 3.5lb according to my scale this morning. I know weight fluctuates throughout the day, but a loss is definitely encouraging. I hope to keep it up in the coming weeks.

I’ve started to read the Divergent series while at the gym. I love being able to read books again. I mean, I do read the occasional book, but it’s not very likely to happen when I’m at home. I usually just end up watching a movie or Netflix and cross stitching. Priorities people. Anyway, so the gym is really the only place I read. I have a whole bunch of books on my to-read list and I’ve got to try to cut it down a bit.

My Mom and Dad left yesterday on a one month snowbirds adventure. Although my Mom isn’t retired yet, she has a month off between jobs, so her and my Dad decided to take off. I think this will be the longest time I have been away from my parents. There have been a couple weeks at a time over the years, but nothing longer. They are driving straight down from Calgary into the states and will eventually make their way all the way down to southern California. Then they will turn around and come up the western coast, eventually making it back home. Some of the places they will stop at are Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Disneyland, San Francisco, Seattle and many other places along the way. They’re going to see so many different things. I would love to one day drive to California and back. What an amazing adventure. I am a jealous, jealous daughter. I hope that the roads are not very snowy and they make it through their adventure very safely.

Congrats on the weight loss! Me and my husband are debating whether we should join a gym or not. There is a Planet Fitness (which is $10 a month) about 20 minutes away. And even though 20 minutes isn’t that far, I don’t know if we will really use the membership that much.

I too am jealous of your mom and dad’s trip! It sounds so exciting to travel cross country and see all the sights!

Glad to hear your week went well! I weighed in at Weight Watchers today and was down 0.8. Not much but it’s better than being up 0.8!

I’m glad the first week went well! Congrats on the weight loss! I don’t read many books at home either because of all the distractions around. I end up reading the most on trips, like on the airplane and such, haha.

Oh wow, that sounds like a far drive. They’re stopping by so many cool cities! I hope they make it safely and have a fun time :)

I think as long as your parents avoid the east coast and the Midwest, the roads should be fine. I hope they enjoy their road trip here in the US. :)

Congrats! A healthy lifestyle trumps everything else. Keep it up! :D
