My cousin from Ontario was in town this week and we were able to spend a little bit of time together. She was previously in town in December for a practicum for medical school. She will be graduating as a doctor in May and she had decided to come here for a stint at our Children’s Hospital. Her Grandma (also mine) lives here and she doesn’t get to see her very often so it was a great idea. It was nice to have her in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
She returned this week for an interview at the same hospital. She will be placed for her residency later this year and it could be anywhere in the country. Although the rest of her family still live in Ontario, I have to say it would be awesome if she was placed out here. It would be a hard change for her and her future husband, but well worth it, I am sure. She told me that she absolutely loves our pediatric program here in Calgary and would prefer it to the one she interviewed for in Ontario.
Anyway, with her being in town again, we were able to see quite a bit of each other, despite our busy schedules. We enjoyed some (maybe too much) wine and just spent the night chatting. It doesn’t matter how much time passes, we still get along like a charm. It’s nice to be able to sit down with someone and just gab on and on. Yes, I have friends for that too, but it was great to have someone who knows a little more about our family and how we grew up.
I was tickled pink that we could share a couple bottles of wine together. I don’t get to share wine with anyone very often. Peter hates the stuff and I don’t feel comfortable opening a bottle of wine just for myself. I just won’t drink it very fast and it will end up going bad. Once in awhile I will have a glass when I am over at my parent’s house for family dinner. However, it’s just not the same as ladies night with a few glasses!
Recently for Christmas, a friend’s Mom gave me too bottles of her homemade wine. The two flavours are raspberry and green apple. I cannot wait to crack those puppies open! They will be fruity and delicious! Currently looking for anyone to come and help me! Haha.
So long story not so short, I love wine and I love spending time with my cousin. I sure hope she gets placed here in Calgary so then I can see her all the time!!
