A home to call our own

Today was the big day. It was over 3 months in anticipation and it finally arrived. Peter and I bought our 2nd house back in April and possession date finally came today. We actually have the keys in our hands! It’s nuts, I can’t believe how fast time flies. I am excited to start this journey!

Our new home!

The first thing I have to say is that it is HUGE!! A very big upgrade from what we currently live in. I love our first house, but as our family is expected to expand in November, it just won’t fit the bill anymore. Oh and now we have a garage!!!!!! AHHH! No more brushing snow off the car in the mornings. I never thought I would ever say this, but I am SO EXCITED for winter now LOL.

We have already lined up people to rent our first house for August 15th. Peter has been hard at work for the past few months fixing the little things here and there around the house. It’s amazing the amount of things you learn to live with that are broken or not quite up to standard. They sure add up over the years. Peter’s final task tonight is installing a dishwasher. We took it out years ago because we never used it. Unfortunately, that is not the case for most people, so we purchased a cheap used one at a garage sale and we are crossing our fingers that it works!!

Over the next week, we will slowly move all of our things over to the new place. We are hoping to move the big furniture and beds by next weekend. So we won’t be sleeping there quite yet.

This is so exciting and I can feel so much stress and anxiety relieved from my shoulders. I’ve been a bit of a wreck for the past few months. It was probably a mix of the pregnancy and house, but I sure felt it. Ugh. Now all I have to think about is the baby and that is an amazing thing to look forward to!! Plus, BABY SHOPPING NOW!!! It’s been hard to not go crazy in every store I go into!

Congratulations, on purchasing your second home! It must be nice having your own home and not have to rent a room like I do. Okay to make a long story short — I was struggling super bad in my own apartment. I moved in with my boyfriend and his grandparents to help them out as they were struggling as well. After school is done and my boyfriend and I graduate he and I will move and we’re looking towards that day we pack our belongings and get our own place together.

Congratulations as well on being pregnant! Do you know what the gender of the baby is yet? My step-sister is expecting her fourth child. Of course, she was cursed with having all boys. According to her mom that my step-sister will be getting her tubes tied as her mom does NOT want anymore grandchildren from my step-sister lol. Children are a blessing though (most of the time). I’m just not ready to have a child yet, and I also think I won’t be able to handle the crying at odd hours of the night. I barely handle my own grumpiness.

Sorry, I’m rambling a bit. I’m tired. I should probably go to bed. Congratulations to both of you guys for expecting and for purchasing your second home. The house looks lovely. You should do an inside picture tour (when it’s already that is).
