Our new home

I have been meaning to write this post for the past month and a half, however, I didn’t want to start it until we had the house mainly unpacked. I hate pictures of stacks of boxes. No one wants to see that. However, we are now mostly all unpacked and settled in and so it’s a great time to post about our new home.

We started on this journey back in April to purchase our second home. After we found out that we were expecting a baby, we knew we had to move to a bigger place. Although, Peter and I both agreed that we weren’t going to move unless we could find a significantly bigger upgrade with most of the features we wanted. Our biggest requirement was that we found a place with a garage. After over a month of searching and countless viewings, we found the perfect home. Possession date was August 1st and we have been settling in ever since.

As we were packing and before we had even moved, I felt a little sad and homesick. I honestly thought that I would miss my old home terribly once we were in the new place. Now that we have been living in our new home for a month and a half, I realize that I don’t even miss the old one! I love our new house so much. The only thing that is a little weird is being so far away from everything while we are sleeping. At our first house, everything was on one floor and we could hear anything that was going on. Now with this house we are all the way upstairs and really have no idea what is happening on the main floor or basement. It’s a little scary and I am a tiny bit paranoid about burglars. However we live in a safe neighbourhood, so I’m really just letting my mind get away from me too much. All is well, really.

Here are pictures of the new place. There are LOTS of them, so you are forewarned!! You can also view the complete album here.

One might think you’re a proud Canadian based on these pictures! ;D It looks lovely. I love all the shelves in the living room! And I can totally see a kid having so much fun in that backyard. I hope you will be a super happy family there <3

nice! I notice a bit of a theme throughout the house :P
I would think having the sleeping area upstairs would be more comforting in case of burglars. If they’re violent, you don’t want them near you. Let them take your stuff while you call the cops.
My husband would greatly approve of you actually having your cars in the garage. He complains about our neighbors who all have garages and then park on the street, lol

Your home is gorgeous! So glad you are enjoying it and I’m sure after being there for a bit longer, you will get use to the distance and won’t be paranoid about burglars.

    Photos! :D
Thanks for sharing, you both have a beautiful home.
I actually love all the patriotic Canadian bits around the house and all the red / white colour schemes dotted around, like the table cloth and some of the kitchen bits.

Thanks for the idea of a Google spreadsheet for DVDs by the way, will definitely have to do something like this to keep my collection in check. I still own some films on VHS too! :)

I’m glad you love your new house so much! It’s looking great :D I’m jealous that you have a basement for more room. We don’t have basements here in Texas! I especially love how your backyard and porch look. They look like great places to hang out when the weather is nice :D
