Last Broadway

It’s no secret that I LOVE theatre! So it’s very heart wrenching to announce my Mom and I went to our last Broadway show on Sunday. We’ve had season tickets for many years now for the Braoadway shows that come to Calgary. Sadly, we did not renew our subscription this year. The upcoming season’s lineup just didn’t strike our fancy and we have already seen some of the shows previously. It’s quite sad. I am heartbroken because our season seats were front row centre. I doubt we will ever get seats that great again! Boo. However, as I am currently on maternity leave, I’m not making very much money, so any penny saved is a great thing. More diapers for Ezri!

At least our final show was a great one! We saw The Book of Mormon! We were lucky enough to see this show in Toronto 2.5 years ago, but it’s so good that we were delighted to see it again. It was just as great as the first time. Actually, scratch that, it was better, for two reasons. First, our seats were better. In Toronto we sat separately in the 2nd and 3rd row on the left side of the theatre. So we really couldn’t beat the front row centre seats we had on Sunday!! Second, the actors were better. They played the characters perfectly. I fully believed they were their roles. Plus, I recognized one of the actors from some Team Starkid musicals that I love!!! AJ Holmes starred in shows such as A Very Potter Musical and Twisted! It was very cool to see someone who started their career on YouTube as a Starkid on a national Broadway tour!!

If there is a show that comes to Calgary that we absolutely MUST see, then we will probably buy individual tickets for that show only. Also, who knows, maybe if future seasons are more interesting, we might buy season tickets again! Hoping to get the best possible seat, of course. I’m sad for now, but I accept it’s for the better!

Aww, it’s always sad to break a tradition. That’s too bad the line-up wasn’t worth getting season tickets! Front row center sounds like amazing seats.

I’m glad the last show was a good one though 🙂 I still need to see the Book of Mormon. I always hear great things about it. At least individual tickets are still an option!

I impressed you’ve gone post baby. I feel completely tethered to Owen on the weekends, but probably ’cause I have to work during the week. Stupid work. I should move up there! Not sure I could take the winters though 😛
