Wow. It’s hard to believe you’ve been on the outside for just as long as you were on the inside. These last 9 months have flown by so fast!!
You are such a big girl now I can’t believe it’s already time to say those words. You learned how to pull yourself to a standing position this month. You started pulling yourself up on my knee and then you progressed to the furniture. We’ve had to get rid of our coffee table because it was a very tempting item for you to hit your head on. You are on your feet more often than on your back. It’s nuts. You even walk a little bit while holding onto the side of the couch.
You went camping for the first time this month. Your daddy and I weren’t sure how you’d handle it, especially at night. However you proved us delighted when you slept well for 4/5 nights! It was the last night that you were up every 2 hours, so it’s a good thing we were going home that day. I don’t know if we would have stayed all 5 nights had you had a bad night to start off with. You hung out in your playpen jail during the day with lots of toys. We brought your jolly jumper and you enjoyed bouncing a lot. Grandma and grandpa even let you crawl around in their trailer because they knew how much you liked to explore. You got to bathe in their sink every night! You were SO excited about that and splashed SO much!! Grandma and I brought you down to the lake one day. You thought the water was a bit too cold. There wasn’t a lot of sand to play with so we didn’t spend any time at the beach.
You tried puffs for the first time and now you are a puff monster. You are getting really good at getting them directly in your mouth now. It makes me happy that you like them because they are one more step to solid food! You still LOVE your purées and baby cereals. I am getting a teeny bit more adventurous in what I’m giving you. You had a cracker and cream cheese and didn’t gag, so that’s a start. You even had a little bit of pancake. We might start giving you chunkier pieces of food soon. You are finally starting to show some signs of interest in foods other than purées. Ice cream will always be your favourite though.
Sleep is the same as ever. Average longest stretch is 3-4 hours at a time, but sometimes longer. I’m up with you 2-5 times a night. We might have to try harder at sleep training sometime soon because mama is getting tired little one. It’s hard at night because you don’t want anyone but me. If your daddy tries to soothe you, you just get more upset. It’s time to start sleeping like a big girl!
Screaming and exploring your voice is definitely still one of your favourite things to do and I just think it’s so cute. You also still love blowing raspberries. Lately you’ve begun making more sounds that actually sound like syllables. Ah, dah, du are all things you can get out, though I’d love to hear some ma ma sounds soon please.
You are a crawling monster but what is very cool is that you come when you’re called. Although we don’t quite think you know your name yet, you know the sound of our voices. You crawl right over to us and put your hands on our legs and stand up waiting to be picked up. You also crawl to the bath every night when you hear the water running. Smart baby.
You are almost 14lbs now and just sizing out of your 3-6 month clothing. It’s just getting to be a little too short for you now. It’s too bad because the 6 month clothing is still a bit big, but we know you will grow into them! You still fit into your swing, although your Daddy and I might be putting it away soon. You like to sit up in it instead of lay down and you even fell asleep sitting up and folded over on your legs. It was definitely a sight to see but I bet it wasn’t comfy. The jolly jumper will stay out for awhile yet as you still love jumping!!
As ever, I am looking forward to seeing what new and exciting things you have planned for us in the upcoming month!!
Love you forever
