My sweet, sweet baby girl, you’re already 11 months old! I can’t believe that I am currently planning your first birthday!! It’s crazy to think how fast the days are going by. Soon you will be reading these letters and thinking how much of a silly, sappy Mom I am. I just hope you know how much you are loved and cherished!
This was another exciting month. You’ve become a pro at standing. It’s your favourite position. You hardly ever hold onto anything anymore! Since you are always on your feet now, you took you very first steps this month!! We even caught it on camera. I’m not gonna lie, we have a few out takes, but we actually managed to catch your first 3 steps ever. It was so cool. Since then your record is 7 steps in a row. You are always trying to step, but you still lose your balance quite often. It will come soon enough! We bought you a walker to help you get around and you absolutely LOVE it! It was amazing because we didn’t even have to show you what to do. You grabbed ahold of it and off you went. You are practically running all over the house with it now. It’s too adorable.
We started your second round of swimming lessons this month. It took me by surprise because you hated the first two lessons out of three. You clung to me for dear life and you whined or cried most of the time. I was so shocked because you loved the pool a few months ago and you also love the bath every night! So weird. This week though, you enjoyed the pool and you splashed and laughed and screamed the whole time. I guess you just forgot? Who knows, but I’m glad you’re enjoying them again.
You are eating 3 meals of solids a day and your gagging is minimal now. We still make sure to give you softer food, but are experimenting more and more. Your favourite things to eat this month were imitation crab, black beans, peaches, bananas and cheerios. But of course you’re all time favourite is still your puréed food pouches that you suck dry in seconds.
Sleep has been quite awful. You’re still waking up 3-5 times a night and nothing will settle you except nursing. Sigh. It’s a bad habit we’ve all gotten into. You’re almost a year and you should be sleeping through the night. The nursing is more comfort rather than hunger at this point and I have no idea how to break this routine we are in. You are falling asleep on your own at the beginning of the night, but just can’t do it in the middle. However naps have been very good lately. I’ve been making an effort to get you up around 7am and you seem to be napping much better for it! We were having some days that you’d only nap once for 30 minutes and that’s it. But since I’ve started getting you up earlier and consistently, you’re going from 1.5-2.5 hours twice a day. Good girl!
You had your second cold of your life this month. It was much different than your first (at 3 months) because you’re so mobile and have a mind of your own now. You didn’t like sitting still to get your nose wiped and that lead to snot everywhere. At least you didn’t get a cough to go along with it either. You were in great spirits though. Your daddy and I were sick at the same time and we were definitely not as chipper as you!
It’s so amusing to see you play. You have your very own ottoman toy box and you figured out how to take the lid off of it. You go in there and take your toys out when you want to play with them. It’s nice to be able to have the toys in the box and have the living room clean (for 30 seconds, at least) and you can still go and find what you want to play with.
You discovered the toilet paper roll this month and we have to keep a close eye on you because you will unravel the whole thing in seconds. After you’ve ripped the paper to shreds, you will attempt to eat it. Not good, but you have a ball doing it.
We went to another Mommy and Me movie at the movie theatre. It’s getting harder to keep you happy for 2 hours in one spot and I’m not sure we will be able to do many more movies together. You used to sleep the whole time, but now you’re on the move to get places.
You’re making so many sounds and syllables and noises. You’ve started growling and it’s too adorable. You also love to smack your lips and tongue. I get weak at the knees as you babble because it’s so so so cute. Seriously, could I love you any more?!
I can’t wait to see what happens in your final month before you turn 1 year old! Please don’t ever stop surprising me!
Love your Mom
