A new hobby

This post is long overdue. It’s been almost a year since I decided to finally take the leap and learn how to knit. I love cross stitching and I knew that one day I wanted to learn how to knit as well. I asked my Grandma to teach me and she willingly obliged. After her little lesson, I took to youtube and watched many many tutorial videos.

I have made a few little projects and am getting more and more comfortable as I go along. My first big finish was a sleep sack for Ezri. My friend, who I taught to knit after I learned, made up a pattern for me and I started knitting. It was a great project and I hope the sleep sack will fit Ezri this winter. She wore it a little bit last winter, but not for very long.

My current knitting project is a bunny blanket and I LOVE it so far. The yarn I chose is super soft and it will be nice and cozy for anyone to curl up under. I am about half way through the blanket, but I have temporarily put it aside. I plan to pick it up again and keep going on it, but I just have too many things on the go right now! So many crafts and so little time!

In the last few months, I’ve also developed an interest in crochet. I didn’t actually buckle down to learn until about a week ago. I found a pattern that I wanted to make and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. After all, did I really need MORE projects on my list of things to do?! Well I guess I did because I started watching some videos on youtube and have since completed THREE crochet projects in the past week. Again, just like knitting, I am getting faster and more comfortable the more I stitch. I have completed a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse beanie. They are our baby when he/she arrives for newborn photos. As we don’t know what we are having, I made both Minnie & Mickey.

I’ve also completed a crochet Candy Corn Halloween treat bag for Ezri for when we go to Disneyland in 2 weeks. I gave it to her and of course the first thing she did was put it on her head. HAHA, it was so cute. But I am sure she will figure it out as soon as someone puts candy in it for her!

I am going to try to get back to my cross stitching for the next couple weeks as I feel I’ve been neglected my first crafting love!

Ahh!!! Everything looks so good. You’re so talented! I love knitting and crochet. I’ve been crocheting for 9 years and knitting for just 2 and they are both so much fun.

We should do a knit or crochet along together. And of you don’t mind, could I get a link to the bunny blanket? It is so adorable!

I admire you for doing cross stitch. It takes so much patience and I have learned that I don’t have any when it comes to it, LOL!

Thank you for your nice comments!

A knit/crochet along would be a fine idea! I was thinking something Harry Potter next but really I have no idea lol. I might be much slower than you but I am sure we can do it! Omg exciting.

That’s awesome that you learned how to knit and crochet! The blanket is looking great. I love the pattern on it. I also really love the Mickey and Minnie Mouse hats. They are sooo cute! The candy corn treat bag turned out great too. So funny that Ezri put it on her head! Can’t wait to see what else you make!
