NaBloPoMo 2017: Day 7 – She’s ready

Ezri and I have been doing swimming lessons together since she was just about 6 months old. It’s been so fun to see her learn and develop her skills in the water. Even with all our lessons over the past 2.5 years, she’s never been a big fan of getting her head wet. These days I have to promise her a chocolate if she does a dunk under water. It’s getting her used to being completely submerged and so I don’t mind bribing her at all. 😛

However, it has become quite clear to me in these latest round of lessons that she is ready to be on her own with an instructor. It’s sad to think about, but I know the time has come. Although the parent & tot classes are from 6MO-5Years, she is the oldest in her class. She doesn’t want to be held by me very often and prefers to wander around the shallow end playing with the toys and ring weights. She doesn’t even want to participate in many of the songs they sing as a group anymore. She barely takes a moment to practise her skills with me either. Again, I usually have to bribe her with chocolate or little toys. Hahaha. So starting in January, I am going to enroll her by herself!! AHH. Scary (but good) step for both her and I.

Today she learned how to hold onto the edge of the pool in the deep end and move herself along. I am feeling more and more comfortable letting her go and seeing her do things on her own. It’s crazy to think that my baby is going to be THREE tomorrow!!! Where has the time gone?!

Yes, the time goes by much too quickly. My son is now 11 (gasp!). It happened in the blink of an eye. So yes, yes, yes, cherish these moments.

Time goes so fast! I remember taking my son to mommy and me swim classes before he turned 1. Now he is 6 and swimming on his own for the most part. Happy celebrating your little one!
