One month review

As it is February 1st, I thought I would take a look at how my 2014 goals are going so far. I will try to reaccess each month and possibly change/update them.

  • Eat out only once a week – I have cooked lot more at home recently for sure! Even on days when we’re 2 inches away from putting on our shoes, I will open the fridge and start cooking.
  • Hold my pen properly – Eh, not really any progress. I realize sometimes and try to change my hand position, but when I pickup a pen next time, I am back to my old way.
  • Get back to my goal weight – I lost 5.5lbs early on in January, but I’ve been fooling around again and gained 2 of them back. Oh well, it’s a new month!
  • Exercise at least 3 times a week – I’ve been proud of myself with going to the gym. I have actually kept this goal alive. I even went for my first run since mid-November!
  • Eat more leftovers – Huh. Well I have mastered the art of cooking the perfect amount of food for two. If there are ever leftovers, Peter always has first dibs. However, I did make a coconut cream pie and ate a slice the next day. Also, my friend and I made special spaghetti sauce and we froze it. I’ve eaten it twice since the initial freezing! Is that considered leftovers?
  • Watch Dr. Who – I have watched episode 1 and 2 and I’m seriously not hooked yet. It seems so ridiculous and silly. After watching those episodes, I had to go and re-watch Sherlock because I knew that would be way better. So this Dr. Who thing might be harder than I thought.

So I think that I am doing okay so far. I just really need to crack down on what I put into my mouth. I need to take more care in my body! Also, PLEASE, someone tell me that Dr. who isn’t so absolutely ridiculous throughout the entire series!!

No thoughts on Dr.Who, since I don’t watch it, but I hope you find this series enjoyable!

Gah! If you and I lived in the same city [or the same country for that matter], I would’ve LOVED to go to the gym with you! Having a workout buddy is encouraging, whether you’re doing cardio or resistance training. I’ll be there in spirit, if that helps. xD Wishing you the best of luck all the way from the southern end of the US.

That’s a good idea to reaccess your goals each month 🙂 It sounds like a good way to stay on top of them.

Congrats on hitting some of your goals! I think it’s especially awesome that you were able to do the first and fourth one because those are both I want to be better at. We’re good about eating at home during the weekdays, but then we pig out on the weekends. Not good! I also started to slack on my work outs 🙁

haha, I actually think that’s a good thing to be able to cook the perfect amount of food. Nothing goes to waste, though I suppose having left overs can be convenient for the next day 🙂

I’ve been wanting to get into Dr. Who, but I haven’t been motivated to watch it. I agree that Sherlock is so good though! Good luck with your goals in February!

I’m a lover of Doctor Who, some episodes are silly, yes, British humour and all but they are mixed with serious ones.

I assume you’re watching “new” Doctor Who? 2005 onwards rather than the older seasons?

One of my favourite episodes from the 2005 season 1 episodes is ‘The Empty Child’/’The doctor dances’ two parter.

We’re trying to cook more too, rather than eating out which now only happens on special occasions, birthdays etc. It’s going well. 🙂

Are you still doing weight watchers?

Sounds like you’re further along on your goals than I am on mine lol. I will say though, when I first started watching Doctor Who I liked it but wasn’t really overly into it, probably until the episode “The Empty Child”. And it just got even worse once the second season started.

Doctor Who definitely gets better and better, well, until the second half of season 7, but then the 50th anniversary episode makes up for that.
Sounds like your goals are going pretty well for the most part! 😀

Season 1 of Doctor Who (never shorten it to Dr.!) is definitely campy and when I watched it originally I was like “WTF am I watching?” but my British friends convinced me to push through. It starts to get more awesome in season 2, I promise. My favorite episodes are more towards the later seasons. The thing is, you can’t just skip to the newer seasons like some people I know have (the blasphemy!) because then you’ll *never* be able to go back and watch the first ones.

i think you did pretty well in january! it’s awesome that you’ve been going to the gym regularly. the hardest part is just the change in the routine and getting used to things but give yourself time to adjust and pretty soon, it’ll be something that you need to do.

Yeah, Doctor Who is harder to get into. Even I had a hard time liking it but there are some serious episodes in there especially in the reboot. Yet, I enjoy the silliness now because I feel like Doctor Who has a great message that he cares about everyone and that no one is insignificant in the slightest. It’s a beautiful message and it’s probably why Doctor Who is partially famous on that regard.

That’s awesome that you achieved some of your goals. Good job!
