This cute meme was on Aisling’s blog , so I thought I’d participate!
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
Yeah there is NO WAY that I can pick just one. I love so many Xmas movies! I will just list a few of them that are a MUST watch every year: Jack Frost, The Santa Clause 1, 2 & 3, The Polar Express, The Grinch, Love Actually and Home Alone 1 & 2.
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
When I was little, we used to open Gifts with my Grandma on Christmas eve and then my immediate family on Christmas morning. Now that Peter and I have started our own family, it’s a little different. We open gifts with my Grandma, Mom, Dad and Brother on Christmas eve. Then Peter and I do our own exchange on Christmas morning. Usually on New Year’s Day (or someday close) we do a gift exchange with Peter’s immediate family.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
When I was in junior high sometime, my cousins and aunt and uncle came for Christmas from Ontario. My cousin and I both love to sing. We decided we wanted to give our family a special gift of song. So we practiced Christmas carols in the car ride to go skiing. Then we performed our “concert” for the family on Christmas. We even made up a little program to give out. It was great fun and I’ll always remember it. We have it videotaped on a VHS and I just recently watched it actually.
4. Favourite festive food?
Definitely egg nog. I start watching for it at the stores around Thanksgiving time. For anyone who doesn’t know, Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in mid-October. So usually by Christmas I am sick of the stuff.
My favourite actual food item would be shortbread cookies. Made by my Grandma 🙂
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
As a child, my favourite gift was a toy where you could make your own McDonald’s happy meal. It was so awesome, fun and edible. In recent years, my favourite gifts have been my red file cabinet and my absolutely delightful and warm booties.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Egg nog is my favourite scent as well as food. Oh, and Turkey stuffing. Is anyone surprised my favourite scents are food related?!
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Over the past few years our traditions have been changing. Different circumstances come up and routines change. However, we usually have chinese food for supper, either dine in or take out. Then we head to my Grandma’s house and we do our gift exchange with my family.
8. What tops your tree?
A pretty star. It has sparkles on it that end up everywhere, but it’s totally worth it.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I honestly can’t remember if I asked for anything wild and crazy like that. I’ll have to ask my parents.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
I love having the one day of the year where everything is shut down. Almost 100% of places are closed and people are spending time with their loved ones. I think that is amazing. No one rushing around trying to get errands done. No choice but to entertain each other. I really wish there were more days like that.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
