A couple weeks ago I decided to have an X-Men movies marathon. I was iffy about the order in which to watch them, as there are a few different suggestions in which to do so. In the end I decided to watch in order they came out (production order) as opposed to timeline order.
There are 10 movies and I had previously seen 7 of them. The last 3 movies (bolded) are the ones I had not previously seen.
X2: X-Men United
X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men: First Class
X-Men: Days Of Future Past
As I had seen Deadpool before, I chose not to include it in my rewatch. It just didn’t strike my fancy at the time. Plus, it’s not really part of the same storyline with the same characters as the other movies.
I enjoyed the entire series, with the exception of 1 movie: Logan. I watched it last and I really wish I had just skipped it altogether. It was awful. So different from the rest of the series. So dark and violent and sad. It was horrible. It’s definitely a movie I will never feel the need to watch again. I can’t believe that it is the movie Hugh Jackman wanted to finish with after his 17 year stint as Wolverine. I don’t think there was one part of it that I enjoyed. Not one single happy or funny moment, really, that I can recall. Of course, Peter informed me afterward that there are a lot of fans who argue that Logan is the best movie of the series. Crazy, crazy people in my opinion.
I love the older. Erosions of the characters, but I also love the younger versions. It’s great how they tie them together and even have the, all in the same movie. So enjoyable. I have to say that I didn’t spot Stan Lee in every movie though. I thought he had a cameo in all marvel movies. I might have just missed him.
Anyway, I definitely recommend all the X-Men movies (with exception of Logan) if you’re looking for a series to binge one.
